Amplifier Services
Your amp needs service.  You're getting ready for your next gig, or worse - it stops working at a gig.  Or maybe you've left the amp sitting in a closet or garage for 10 years, found one at a garage sale or your parents' attic, or bought an amp online.  If your amp doesn't sound right, doesn't turn on or needs anything at all, bring it to one of our locations - we have you covered.  If your amp is a vintage or boutique hand wired amp, we can take care of it.

If your amp has any of these symptoms or issues (or even other ones we haven't listed here), we want to take care of them for you.

  • "Doesn't Sound Right" - The amp doesn't have the clarity it used to have
  • "Dead" Amp - no sound, doesn't turn on
  • Blown Fuses
  • Intermittent operation
  • Noisy Pots
  • Loud Hum, loud "white" noise
  • Distortion at low volumes
  • Dead speaker(s)
  • Burning Smell
  • Worn Out Tubes
  • Excessive Feedback, low-end rumble, pinging sounds
  • Torn Grille Cloth
  • Collapsed Baffle
  • Broken or missing Handle
  • No power or status lights
  • Exploded filter caps
  • Overheating, broken or blown out tubes
  • Non-working controls
  • Cabinet Rattles
  • Broken or insufficient power cords
  • Bad input jacks/speaker jacks/pedal jacks
  • No Reverb
  • No Tremolo
  • Broken or missing controls (shaft broken off)
  • Fell, kicked over or dropped amp doesn't work right anymore
  • Dead Bugs, snakes or rodents shorting out the amp
(note - we do not service amps trampled on by a herd of cows, we'll recommend a suitable replacement)
  • Someone else serviced it and it still isn't right

The first step in resolving these: DO NOT PANIC.  Most tube amps can be rescued, restored or rebuilt.

Please note that not all tube amps are serviceable or are economically viable to be fixed.  Just because some amps have tubes does not mean that they are handwired - they actually have solid state circuit boards and are mass-produced.  If you know it's an input jack or it has intermittent issues, chances are we can fix it.  If it is something on the circuit board, we'll try and find a solid state repair shop to fix it for you.  If it's not worth it, we'll advise you accordingly as well. Some Sound Kings locations may actually also service solid state amps, so inquire at your nearest location.
